Projects

I have so many things I need to get done. I have been so lazy lately since it is officially summer for me. I only have about two weeks of summer before Summer 1 starts. I did so good this semester 3.66 gpa, I guess neglecting friends so I could study Russian Culture, and Politics paid off. I haven't even really been to work much, why am I so lazy. I plan on keeping up with this blog even if it will be the death of me. Many days I have interesting things to talk about it but I'm to lazy to type them up. I'm taking my laptop to work tomorrow so I can update this blog in the open air.

I've been trying to bake the perfect chocolate souffles but they turned out so crappy. I will reattempt to make them tomorrow. I called my mom and dad and they both gave me some pointers. I really want a cool set of vintage dessert dishes and tea cups. Maybe something in Carnival Glass, I love how it's so whimsical and colorful. My dad had a large collection of Carnival Glass so maybe it's something we could do together even though he lives 300 miles away from me.

Also I saw Bridesmaids this weekend and I actually laughed very loud. I am a big fan of Maya Rudolph. In my younger years (The early 2000's) I wanted to be her, I mean she is beautiful, extremely talented, and incredibly funny. Sadly to say I took the non comedic route of life. I want to be on SNL someday

Also since this semester is over I was able to finally have enough free time to read books that were gifts from Christmas 2010. ( Yes I am that behind on my leisure readings) of the books I choose to read first was Palo Alto, a collection of short stories written by James Franco.
I picked that one because it is by far one of the shortest books in my library and my brother borrowed it and read it and said he enjoyed it. Jermey and I have similar tastes so I thought I would enjoy it. I'm actually still not sure about this one, it's not a literary masterpiece or anything, but it is motivation for me to finish my short stories and possibly submit them to something somewhere and get them published.

Random, I bought the coolest vintage belts for about a buck a piece, I'll take a picture with the outfits I choose to where them with.

Also I've been getting compliments about my hair, which I will be changing in a bit. It's been coined that I'm sort of hippie chic. Several people have told me this...

I don't know... I'm not very hippie like, but I guess it's better than being labled a hipster by random people. I mean yes I love faux glasses, TOMS, skinny jeans, hats, and Mumford & Sons but that doesn't make me a hipster... right???

I'm currently soaking beans in a bowl for some red beans and rice for tomorrow... I'm so Cajun
I need to finish the dishes from all of the failed souffles

FINALS.....

I think I am about to die. I'm trying my best to keep up with this blog but I have so much to get done. After Monday May 9th, I will be free for about 3 months. No school just a bit of work (maybe I can save some money) and possibly a trip to Chicago during those three weeks of bliss until June 1st when Summer I starts.

I'm almost done studying for my Economics final for tonight, but I need to get my Russian Economic Reform paper finished by tonight (well the morning) so I plan on staying up all night, be done by 7am, take a shower and work around 9am- 4:30pm... then head over to the library and study for my Russian Politics class with Ayla.

I'm currently taking a break, I can't wait to be completely finished with school forever and get a grown up job. I will look back and be extremely happy.

Coke and Rum please....

I haven't been able to post in a while. School has taken up a lot of my time, but this semester will be over after next week. I was able to go out and have a bit of fun last night, even though I should have been writing papers or studying. I needed to have that break, smoke some hookah, go to bars, random street food, and Ihop it was great.
I want to dye my hair red this summer...

I'm planning my Europe trip. Me and Chris decided yesterday that we will save money and just go. No buying shoes for me.

Oh our lunch dinner for work was amazingly delicious. Mi Taco Village near the airport has the best Green Chile Enchiladas around. They were so good.

Arbor Day was fun, I received a lot of free shirts, sat with Nisha in Memorial Circle and ate food then I went back to work, where I have literally been doing nothing.

I'm trying to remember what I've been doing since my last post but I can't remember. I've been thinking of wedding dresses lately, especially after seeing Prince William's wedding. I do like the more vintage silhouettes, I love lace. I love the romanticism of it all.

I want to wear something like this
It's perfect, I wouldn't want to wear the exact dress or even a replica by something similar but with my own spin.

One day

Good Friday

This Friday wasn't that great classes weren't cancelled and I have not been to sleep since Wednesday night.
I am exhausted but I have no one to blame but myself for this. I waited too late to start a Russian paper. It literally took me all night up till 7am, then I had to leave my house at 8:30am to make it on campus by 9:00am. I worked from 9:00am-12:30pm went to my 1:00pm class to turn in that crazy Russian paper then walked back to work from 2:00pm-4:45pm. I was falling asleep at work and in my Russian Politics class (we watched a film and it was dark) so I'm attempting (no attempt needed) to go to sleep now, because I have to wake up early so I can clean my room because my parents are driving here to visit. I really don't want them to come right now, but plans have already been made.

on the bright side we have no school on Monday, which I will be responsible and work all day so I will not have to work on Arbor day that Friday. I really want to maximize my intake of free stuff. (I want my Lucky Bamboo) I believe we only have one more week of actual learning left this semester and then a day after that. Before finals creep their ugly face back into my life. And at work our bosses have agreed to take us student assistants out to lunch this Thursday. Monday we will decide on places... we are thinking spicy so Mexican or Thai and they are paying for everything. I really love my job, not to mention today we did nothing but talk about food, India, England, and beer for the longest time.

I hope my mom gets me and Nisha an Easter basket when they come....

du soleil dans un verre

Today was such a nice breezy day, not to mention my boss was not at work today...
It was perfect. I went to work around 9:30am and sat and had coffee and ate my granola bar in total silence, it was bliss. I was able to read an article for my paper, and I did manage to work a little. Today a guy asked me what was I studying and I told him International Economics and he said hmmm I thought you would study art or something. He also said I have a talent for mixing colors and patterns and that actually brightened my day. He works in the Southwest Collection too. He said that he looks forward to see what I will be wearing when I go in to work.

I've been up the past couple of days because I have a huge paper due in about 18 hours, Its over why democracy failed in Russia after Yeltsin. So this paper will be full of Yeltsin's economic failures and Putin's autocratic rule.

Oh My parents are coming for Easter this weekend. I enjoy when they come but I feel like they visit too much, I guess on the plus side I can get an Easter basket out of it, and possibly money

This semester is almost over, yes I can't wait.

I've been gone for far too long

Oooopppss

Well I have an excuse, I was sick for about a week. I had a crazy stomach virus and a bladder infection. After a shot in my butt, a weeks worth of antibiotics as well as nausea medicine I am all better. I went back to work and school and it was weird. It was strange, well going back to work and school well has been hard, I didn't think how hard it would be to play catch up after missing school for about 4 days. My professors have been understanding and of course I had a doctors note so they did excuse my absences. I am really exhausted lately and on the good side I have one more paper to write this week and then all that is left are finals... then freedom until Summer I begins. I definitely am in need of a little road trip and I have the perfect suitcase for it. When I graduated from college my mom asked me what I wanted and I said a new luggage set and she bought me an expensive all black set which I am grateful because with my professional job I plan on using it... but it looks like every other  persons luggage, that is not good for me. I'm not a young professional now so why should my luggage be, so while I was in the DFW area I searched the resale shops and came across this little gem. The perfect suitcase to go on the above mentioned road trips. I paid only 4 dollars for it, I saw on ETSY recently that people are selling these for 52 dollars, which reconfirmed myself that I made a great purchase. I think down the road I will try to find the smaller case that goes with it or reupholster the case some kind of way but for now I think it looks great.

Oh and also while I was sick I had a ton of free time so I watched one of the movies that was on my list of things to do before I was 30 and it was "Gone with the Wind" yes I had no idea it was that long, but thank God for Netflix, I was able to pause it and eat or take a nap and restart it where I left off, and actually I loved the movie, not to sound like a band wagoner in anyway, I do love old Hollywood productions. I also love Vivien Leigh, she is in my favorite movie/play of all times "A Streetcar named Desire". Vivien was a crazy bitch before crazy bitches were cool. You can see it in her eyes in every film she's acted in and GWTW is no exception. I was a bit thrown off with the inaccuracies with events that happened in the movie pertaining to the Civil War as well as the stereotyping of the black cast members... come on Mammy, please. I have read many books on the Civil War and I have a great interest on "Slave Culture" (I don't know if that is the right term... it may be African American culture before the 20th century) and I know the depictions in this movie were off, but then I guess you have to factor in that GWTW was written in the 1930's and was not a historical account of events happening in the 1860's through the reconstruction era. Overall it was entertaining and I guess thats good for a movie, and immediatly after I watched the movie I was looking up a cameo brooch.. I'm a nerd, but I want one.

I went to Gandhi's Bazaar yesterday after class and bought some stuff to finally make Gulab Jamon it's going to be amazing, I'll try to post pictures when they are done and I bought some chile sauce, all for under 5 bucks, I love Indian Markets.

and lastly I have been listening to Jessie J's CD for what seems like a long time thanks to my sister and her Anglophile tendencies. Everything going on in Britain and she knows the scope. This album just came out in the U.S. on April 12th so it's still fresh so go get it.
if you are a fan of Duffy, Adele, or Amy Winehouse you should check her out... very poppy, souly, jazzy.. it's nice.

Speaking of Amy Winehouse, she is looking better these days so hopefully she can get that third album out soon.

Also it's Sunday, and there are a ton of shows I have to watch every Sunday...The Amazing Race on CBS, then The Celebrity Apprentice on NBC, next The Borgias on Showtime, lastly The Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo. I have a problem.

My favorite new show would probably have to be The Borgias on Showtime. It premiered 2 weeks ago and has successfully filled that void of my historical dramas that have been missing since The Tudors ended last year. I thought to my self who will replace King Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) and Charles Brandon, the Duke of Suffolk  (Henry Cavill) as my favorite historical people that I obsess over. Then comes along The Borgias and Cesare Borgia ( Francois Arnaud)  appears on my TV...
Dreamy....

Who is Cesare Borgia, you may ask?

Well he was forced into the priesthood against his will by his father. Cesare is in reality violent, dashing and cavalier. He serves as his father's Consigliore and carries out the most heinous crimes to advance the family's cause. While devoted to his sister and mother, he is locked in a bitter rivalry with his brother Juan, whom he believes to be his father's favorite. So on the show, you get the caring, protective side, as well as the ruthless, murdering son that everyone knows and comes to love during the Renaissance period in Rome.

I feel like Crap

Well this weekend was an epic failure. Not only did I get nothing accomplished (laundry or studying), I also stayed indoors all weekend because of these crazy stomach pains. I felt like crap, I didn't get dressed, do my hair, my make-up or anything. I just pretty much slept and I consumed lots of water and cranberry juice. I feel a tiny bit better now, but I'm dreading work and classes tomorrow. I hope I get enough sleep. I also stayed up tonight to register for Summer I and II as well as for the Fall. I'm pretty much taking Economic classes, a French Culture class, a South American Politics class, and thats about it. I'm so close to the end, I can make it. It will all be worth it when I am working in London, Paris, or Buenos Aires. Goodbye America, only a few more years of you and I'm gone
